Chelsea eye Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho as the London side is targeting the Argentinian amid a move stalling with Napoli before the January transfer window finishes. The 20 year old Argentine, one of the highest rated youngsters coming from United’s academy finds himself getting a move away from the Manchester side. He has since attracted interest from several clubs, with Napoli and Chelsea being the frontrunners among them.

Garnacho’s immense talent and potential have made him a sought after prospect and his potential at such age is a testament to his capabilities. However, his future at United remains uncertain amid financial issues with the Premier League and unsuitability among Amorim’s tactical shape.  Reports suggest that Chelsea has been closely monitoring the situation and preparing to formalize their interest after reports that Napoli failed to match United’s asking price for Garnacho. While there are no official bids yet from Chelsea, sources indicate that they are weighing up their options as they aim to add him to their attacking lineup.

Napoli has been the most active in pursuing Garnacho, holding meetings with United’s director of football negotiations, Matt Hargreaves, to discuss a potential deal. It was reported that Antonio Conte made a call to Garnacho as well to present Napoli’s project who currently sit at top of the Serie A. Lately, negotiations have stalled over United’s valuation of the player, which stands at over £55 million. Napoli, reportedly unwilling to exceed £46.5 million have now turned their focus to Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi as a potential alternative.

Chelsea could benefit from Napoli’s shift to Adeyemi, as it might leave them as the sole contenders for Garnacho. However, United are in no rush to sell the player on a valuation they don’t deem fit. The Blues are willing to spend to strengthen their left wing options, particularly after Mykhailo Mudryk’s provisional suspension following a failed drug test. Additionally, uncertainty over the futures of Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix has further added Chelsea’s interest in Garnacho.

Garnacho’s agents, Carlos Cambeiro and Quique De Lucas, were recently spotted at Stamford Bridge during Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Wolves as well, further intensifying speculation about a potential move to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s interest is believed to be fueled by Garnacho’s connection with his Argentina teammate Enzo Fernandez. However, the player himself is not actively pushing for an exit from United as he sees United his boyhood club.

For Manchester United, selling Garnacho is not a priority as the club values him highly and is keen to see him continue developing at Old Trafford. However, they are prepared to play hardball over his valuation and won’t be compelled to sell him for cheap, which could prove to be a stumbling block for Chelsea.
