With Erik ten Hag's Man United future under question, a Tottenham legend has campaigned for Sir Alex Ferguson to return, replacing the Dutchman.

For many Man United fans, the solution to the club's problems is clear - It's time to move on from Erik ten Hag.

Despite producing some good moments at Man United and working to achieve squad harmony, he is slowly but surely ruining his legacy. Man United look worse than they ever have been under him.

There is no longer a collective identity at Man United. It is hard to pinpoint what the players are fighting for right now, if they are fighting for anything at all.

So, many Man United fans are surprised that Erik ten Hag has lasted the international break.

In fact, a player who Man United fans know well, Paul Gascoigne, has been the first to campaign for Sir Alex Ferguson to come out of retirement. Speaking to Sports Casting, the Tottenham legend thinks the players would respect Sir Alex more than they currently respect Erik ten Hag.

In his own words, Paul Gascoigne said: "I feel sorry for him [Ten Hag] a bit. I'd love [Sir Alex] Ferguson to take over for one season and just see what he could do with those players because I think some of them take the p*** out of him [Ten Hag]."

Look, in a dream scenario, this would absolutely be the case. It's pretty clear that Paul Gascoigne is talking tongue-in-cheek here but the irony is that he's absolutely right.

An 82-year-old Sir Alex Ferguson would absolutely do a better job than Erik ten Hag is currently doing. This is because the Scottish manager would demand respect, first and foremost.

The current Man United squad, despite their obvious talent, does not respect Erik ten Hag. In fact, it would appear to fans and neutral fans that they are playing bad on purpose to result in Erik ten Hag's sacking.

However, this is absolutely the wrong way to go about it. After all, the supporters are the real people who suffer from the bad performances, while the players (and Erik ten Hag) collective their pay-slips at the end of the week.
