Now that the September international break is over, Manchester United will begin to compete in a more heated fixture schedule. Heading into this season, there was controversy over the rising amount of games teams, particularly in England, are expected to play.

Manchester United will now play Barnsley at home in the EFL Cup third round. They will host Barnsley at home on Tuesday evening, at 20:00 BST.
Last season, Manchester United beat Crystal Palace in the third round of the EFL Cup. However, they were then eliminated by Newcastle United in the fourth round, being battered 3-0 at home.
This season, Manchester United will hope to add to their trophy cabinet. They must not turn up their nose at the prospect of EFL Cup silverware. After all, it presents a great opportunity for Manchester United to improve their confidence going forward.
Manchester United have won the EFL Cup a total of six times. This is a record only bettered by Man City (8) and Liverpool (10). The last time Manchester United won the EFL Cup was in 2021, winning the cup for the second season in a row.
In fact, Manchester United have won the last five EFL Cup finals they have participated in. So, it's a competition which holds fond memories for Man United.
