It's difficult to choose between watching Man United or watching paint dry.

Man United have had a completely underwhelming start to the Premier League campaign. They have won just one game all season, and that was the opening Premier League fixture. However, there is now more cause for concern for Erik ten Hag.

Currently sitting 14th in the Premier League table, having picked up three points out of a possible nine, could it really get worse for Man United? Yes, is the unfortunate answer.

The reason why it could be worse for Man United is a direct result of the opposite fact: it could actually be better for Man United, so they should be concerned about why it isn't.

In fact, watching Man United has been incredibly frustrating for this one main reason...

That reason being Man United have not made the most of their chances. It isn't a case of Man United failing to make chances, in fact, they have been very attacking productive... Up until the end product is required.

This has been highlighted by a very prominent Premier League statistic, posted by a Man United fan on Reddit. Essentially, the statistic looks at "big chances missed", and unsurprisingly, Man United lead the stat by a country mile.

Man United have scored just two goals in three games in the Premier League. It is not good enough, especially when factored in their nine big chances missed. Yep, that wasn't a typo, Man United have genuinely missed nine big chances in three matches.

Erik ten Hag mentions "sticking to the plan" a lot but Man United fans are yet to truly see what "the plan" entails. After all, it clearly doesn't involve scoring goals, despite this being the whole point of the sport.

Going forward, there is reason to believe. When Man United find their goal-scoring groove and start burying their chances, they will become a force to be reckoned with again. But it must happen sooner rather than later.
