After Man United drew against Porto in the UEFA Europa League, Rasmus Hojlund seemingly took a dig at his Man United teammates on social media.
Rasmus Hojlund scored his first goal of the season since coming back from injury. Unsurprisingly, it was in European competition after he performed excellently in the Champions League last season.
That said, Rasmus Hojlund's comeback goal was unfortunately overshadowed by Man United failing to win, again. The last time Manchester United won a match was against Barnsley in the EFL Cup.
This season, Man United have only beaten Fulham, Southampton and Barnsley. This is hardly anything to write home about. So, improvements must be made going forward - The players know this.
That said, what has Rasmus Hojlund had to say about Man United?
Rasmus Hojlund takes dig at Man United teammates after Porto draw
Posting about his goal on Instagram, Rasmus Hojlund's caption sticks out to Man United fans. Hojlund said: "Luckily I had 6 weeks to practice my celebration. A win would’ve made it perfect."
Unfortunately, it is a telling tale of Man United right now. Players cannot boast about individual achievements, due to the constraints of the failures of the team. They are a side which lacks reason to fight for the badge.
Many fans are quick to point the blame to Erik ten Hag. This is understandable, because he is the easiest person to pinpoint the blame on.
However, Erik ten Hag does not have to kick the football. It is the responsibility of the players on the pitch to fight for results. They are not doing that so far this season.
Unfortunately, footballers are known to do this. When they do not want to play under a manager, they are known to play worse as a collective, by way of protest. Hopefully, then, they would have kicked the manager out of the club.
This method, while not only applicable to Man United, has the wrong victim. The uiltimate victims are the fans who support the club through and through. By not fighting for the badge each week, players are not harming Erik ten Hag, they are essentially harming the fans who pay their wages.
So, Hojlund is right. A win would have made his celebration and goal feel better. However, it is only him and the other ten Man United players who can push for a win. It won't get handed on a silver plate.
