Napoli joins Chelsea for the signing of Alejandro Garnacho as both clubs are reportedly vying for the signature of Manchester United and Argentina winger Alejandro Garnacho during the winter transfer window. The 20 year old Argentine, who has been a standout talent from United’s academy at Old Trafford, is drawing significant interest as a speculated move ahead of the looming financial implications for Manchester United as they steer past the PSR regulations.
Napoli, currently led by head coach Antonio Conte, appears keen to secure Garnacho's signing as he reportedly had a telephonic conversation with the winger. According to Corriere dello Sport, Conte has already spoken with the player in an attempt to convince him to join the Serie A giants. Napoli’s sporting director, Mauro Manna, is expected to intensify talks with Manchester United within the next 48 hours as Chelsea is also hot on the signing of the youngster. The Italian club has tabled an initial offer of €50 million but may increase it to €60 million, but the Manchester club evaluates him around €70 million.

Chelsea, however, are also in the race. As Fabrizio Romano confirmed in his Caught Offside exclusive update, the Blues have made "direct contact" with United to inquire about Garnacho’s availability. “Napoli manager Antonio Conte has called the player and is pushing to have the Argentine,” Romano stated. “Chelsea are there too—they made an inquiry last week, and this week they will have more contacts to understand the situation of Garnacho.”
While Garnacho has shown flashes of brilliance this season, his form has dipped slightly, partly due to tactical changes under manager Ruben Amorim as well. Despite this, Manchester United views him as a crucial player for the future and is unlikely to sanction his departure unless a substantial offer, potentially exceeding €70 million, is presented.
With both Napoli and Chelsea in the mix, Garnacho's future remains uncertain. It has to be seen where the United winger ends up but as a fan, I would love to see him continue at the club as he comes from the academy and is young with years ahead to develop. His sale may temporarily help United navigate its PSR implications but in the longer run, the club may miss a spectacle of a player linking with fellow youngsters including Mainoo, Amad and Hojlund.
