Man United minority shareholders INEOS have made a controversial decision involving Sir Alex Ferguson's role at the club. Fans won't like it.
When you think of Man United, you think of Sir Alex Ferguson's Man United. After all, the Scottish manager is the biggest legend in the club's large history.
Sir Alex Ferguson is one of the best managers throughout the history of time. Despite playing in a different time period to Erik ten Hag (and with much less money), Sir Alex's side dominated English football for many years.
In fact, many of the modern Man United fans chose to support the team due to Sir Alex's tremendous work. As such, Man United made him ambassador of the club when he left in 2013.
INEOS strip Sir Alex Ferguson of his Man United status
According to The Athletic, Man United minority shareholder INEOS have put an end to Sir Alex Ferguson's paid contract. He will continue his role as a non-executive director on the football board but his paid contract will end after this season.
Needless to say, this will not sit well with Man United fans. To many, Sir Alex Ferguson embodies Man United, so they would claim he deserves more than some of the current players, who aren't fighting for the badge.
It is certainly a bizarre movement, which comes at a strange time. Man United are lacking club culture at the moment, with some claiming that this decision eats away at their club culture even more.
However, on the flip side, it is a step in a different direction for Man United. It cannot possibly get worse for Man United right now, so perhaps the miniority shareholders have futureproofing in mind.
After all, Man United cannot cling to the past for too long. Sir Alex Ferguson will ALWAYS be remembered. We will continue to sing his praises on here as his legacy will never be tarnished. That said, now is the right time for Man United to move on.
