The 22 year old Ivory Coast international, a standout performer this season, expressed his immense pride and happiness with the new deal.

Amad’s previous contract was set to expire at the end of the current campaign, although United had the option to extend the contract by another year. In his statement, Amad said, “I am really proud to have signed this new contract. I have had some incredible moments with this club already but there is so much more to come. I have huge ambitions in the game and I want to achieve history at Manchester United.”

The Ivorian winger joined United in 2021 from Italian side Atalanta for a fee of £37 million. His first seasons at the club were largely transitional, with loan spells at Rangers and Championship side, Sunderland aiding his development. Particularly at Sunderland, Amad flourished, scoring 14 goals in 42 appearances during the 2022-23 season, a season that earned him the PFA Championship Fans’ Player of the Year award as well as a massive fan following.

Returning to Manchester United, Amad endured a knee injury during the 2023 pre-season, sidelining him for the next five months. However, since recovering, he has made significant contributions to the team. Notably, Amad scored a dramatic 120th-minute winner in an FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool in March 2024 and followed it with a memorable stoppage-time winner against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in December. His equalizing goal in last Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool further highlighted his growing influence in big games.

United’s technical director, Jason Wilcox, praised Amad’s progress and potential. “Everyone is delighted with Amad’s development. His quality on the ball, versatility, and determination make him a key part of the future of Manchester United,” Wilcox said. “The best years of his career are ahead of him, and we all look forward to helping Amad to reach his immense potential and achieve success at the club in the coming seasons.”

This season, Amad has emerged as one of the most influential players under new manager Ruben Amorim. In 28 appearances across all competitions, he has registered six goals and seven assists, cementing his place as a first team regular. Manager, Amorim has also lauded Amad’s qualities, describing him as “one of the team’s leading lights.”

United’s decision to secure Amad’s long term future is an appreciation of the winger’s potential to play a central role in the club’s resurgence. While the team’s overall form has been inconsistent, Amad’s performances have been a beacon of hope for fans looking to the future. For the fans, Enjoy Amad Magic for a long time.
