Manchester United are lacking goals and their strikers are massively misfiring at the moment. Rashford and Antony going on loans without any replacement has further limited Amorim’s chances as he desperately needs goals to salvage something for United in the season as they sit at an embarrassing 15th in the league. Amid this saga, United have recently scouted Victor Osimhen and may make a big summer move for Napoli’s prolific striker, currently on loan at Galatasaray.
According to sources at GIVEMESPORT, scouts from Old Trafford were seen at a recent Galatasaray match in Istanbul, where Osimhen put on a masterclass performance. Facing Rizespor, the 26 year old netted two goals, helping his side maintain an unbeaten run in the Super Lig. The scouts were impressed by his displays as Osimhen demonstrated his usual clinical finishing and intelligent movement in the box. Osimhen, who has been on United’s radar for nearly five years, appears ready for a permanent move this summer.
With manager Conte favouring Lukaku over him at Napoli, Victor Osimhen was sent on loan and the striker is going all in with Galatasaray this season as he has 24 contributions in all competitions. Osimhen is keen on a permanent transfer rather than another loan spell, which could work in United’s favour. Earlier last year, Osimhen expressed his desire to play in the Premier League. He stated, “Future in the Premier League? Of course, I would like to play [in] it one day. For now, I have other plans for my career. When the time comes, you will know everything.”
However, his potential transfer is not without complications, certainly not for United. His contract includes a release clause estimated at around £58million this summer and the player’s wage demands are said to be close to £250,000 per week. Considering United’s difficulties with the Profit and Sustainability Rules and their potentially missing Champions League football next season, it will be a difficult transfer for United to make as Osimhen is currently monitored by various top European clubs too. Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, Aston Villa, and even Juventus have reportedly shown interest in the Nigerian forward, while PSG is also weighing him as Kolo-Muani’s replacement who joined Juventus on loan this season and is expected to be sold in the summer. Osimhen’s past near-move to United when he was in exceptional form at Lille adds an extra layer of intrigue to the potential deal as well.
Although, manager Ruben Amorim is keen to bolster his attacking options amid Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to consistently deliver in the Premier League, Osimhen maybe a good option at the price if United can make some sales in the summer. Amorim has repeatedly stressed the need for a player with true finishing ability, and Osimhen’s impressive record and gameplay make him an impressive option for United.
