What A Win Will Mean For Manchester United

Coming off the international break, Manchester United will be looking to get off to a fast start for the final stretch of the 2024/25 season. Their season has been full of disappointments, especially in the Premier League as they sit 13th in the table.

However against Forest, United will get the chance to win back-to-back Premier League games. The team has started stringing together some big results, including an away win against Leicester City and securing their spot in the Europa League quarterfinals.

A win against Nottingham Forest would ensure that Manchester United doesn't lose against the side twice in the same season. The reverse fixture was a 2-3 loss at Old Trafford in December, but it did see Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund both on the scoresheet.

Manchester United Injury Boosts

The game against Nottingham Forest might see Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro return to action in the Manchester United backline. Both defenders have participated in training this week and have the potential to start for the Red Devils.

Mason Mount was in the Manchester United squad against Leicester after being out for three months. He is likely to see some time again today, even if it is off the bench. Mount has been injury-prone, which could see his time with United limited unless he can prove to be a key player under Amorim.

Luke Shaw, Altay Bayindir, and Tom Heaton also returned to training this week, although Shaw will likely not be in the squad. Bayindir might find himself on the bench against Forest, where he will take the place of young goalkeepers Dermot Mee and Elyh Harrison.

Nottingham Forest's Injury Worries

Top scorer Chris Wood is a doubt for the clash with Manchester United. Wood was substituted early while on international duty with New Zealand. While the striker has been improving, his injury is considered to be a painful one and could keep him out for this game. Forest will want Wood to be at full strength for bigger games coming up, including the FA Cup semifinal against Manchester City.

Morgan Gibbs-White is also facing a late injury test. His injury came in the FA Cup quarterfinal and might not be too serious. As with Wood, Forest will be cautious with playing the English midfielder with bigger matches coming up.
