There were only two Premier League games played in March for Manchester United due to the Emirates FA Cup fifth round against Fulham and the return of international football. As a result, Manchester United could only compete in two Premier League matches against Arsenal and Leicester City, making it a less busy month in the top flight.
In March, Manchester United drew 1-1 with Arsenal at Old Trafford. Bruno Fernandes’s brilliant free kick was canceled out by a goal from Declan Rice. Manchester United had the opportunity to secure a win late in the match, but David Raya’s heroics saved Arsenal from defeat, with the Spanish keeper denying clear chances from Noussair Mazraoui and Joshua Zirkzee.
The other Premier League match for Manchester United saw a comprehensive 3-0 victory against Leicester City. Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho ended their scoring droughts, while Bruno Fernandes added a late goal, earning him the Man of the Match award once again.
The struggling Danish striker, Hojlund, put his team ahead in the first half, ending a goal drought that had lasted 22 games. A few days later, he scored in Denmark's first leg of the UEFA Nations League quarter-final against Portugal, celebrating the goal like his idol Cristiano Ronaldo.
In addition to the positive developments on the pitch, there is further good news regarding Amad Diallo, who may return before the end of the season. Amorim has indicated that Diallo is ahead of schedule, with the target being to prepare him for the latter stages of the Europa League.
Furthermore, Harry Maguire is back in training, and Leny Yoro is also reported to be closer to returning to action. Ayden Heaven’s injury, sustained during the win against Leicester, has not been deemed serious and is expected to require only a few weeks for recovery instead of months as initially reported.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is confident that the club is on a clear path to a better future, both on and off the pitch.
Before the fifth-round FA Cup match against Fulham, he stated:
"“I see a clear path, and I see that from the board as well. Sometimes you need to lose and find yourself in a difficult situation to grow. I am not going to fall apart if I lose three games in a row. I’ve learned that here. I can cope and maintain my energy. I am learning a lot about myself and the players, but I prefer to win games.""Ruben Amorim
Even though the team lost that Cup game on penalties, they went on a four-game unbeaten run in all competitions and improved performances. Manchester next faces third placed Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Tuesday before hosting derby rivals Manchester City on Super Sunday.
