Manchester United have yet to conduct any business in the January transfer window but speculation is growing over several players' futures. Marcus Rashford is expected to leave the club, at least on loan, while Alejandro Garnacho is linked with a move to Napoli.
One player whose long-term future at Old Trafford appeared to be safe heading into the season was Diogo Dalot. The Portuguese right-back was excellent during the 2023-24 campaign, one of a few players who performed well.
The 25-year-old has struggled this term, with several unconvinicing performances, especially since Ruben Amorim arrived in November. He was class in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool but that was a rare stellar showing in an otherwise dissapointing run of form.
Manchester United Must Sell Diogo Dalot

Dalot made a ridiculous decision in United's FA Cup third-round triumph over Arsenal that nearly cost his team. He dived in while already on a yellow card, and Amorim's United were reduced to 10 men.
Fortunately the Red Devils triumphed in the most astonishing fashion, beating the Gunners 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw over 120 minutes. It was a real show of character from a squad that has crumbled under pressure for most of the season.
However, it also highlighted Dalot's weaknesses which are primarily his decision-making. He's been linked with a move to Real Madrid and a sale could help Amorim re-invest in the squad and make necessary acquistions to help him further implement is 3-4-3 system.
The Sun (via Sky Sports) reported in December that Madrid were eyeing Dalot and teammate Lisandro Martinez. There's no chance the latter departs given he's turned a corner recently in a back three alongside the impressive Harry Maguire.
Dalot has three years left on his contract and is valued by Transfermarkt at €40 million (£33.7 million). He's been with the club since July 2018 when he arrived from Liga Portugal giants FC Porto.
Manchester United Should Use Dalot Sale To Seal Nuno Mendes Deal

Manchester United are in the market for a new left wing-back and the man Amorim wants seems to be Paris Saint-Germain's Nuno Mendes. The 22-year-old is a player he knows well having coached him at Sporting CP at the start of his career.
CaughtOffside reports that talks are ongoing at United over a move for Mendes, who has a year left on his contract. They may need to move quickly as Real Madrid are keeping tabs and Manchester City are also admirers.
PSG have placed a €65 million (£54.7 million) price tag on Mendes which may seem hefty but in today's market makes sense given how important the full-back or wing-back is. That much is true for Amorim whose formation can only work with players of the Portugal international's profile accommodating the wing.
