Ruben Amorim has touched on Manchester United's poor run of form by insisting he's comfortable acknowledging he's under pressure. The Red Devils suffered a 2-0 loss away to Wolves on Thursday (December 26), meaning they have now lost four of their last five league games

United's dismal spell has been problematic for Amorim at the start of his reign at Old Trafford. He signed a two-and-a-half-year deal when the club paid Sporting CP a compensation fee of £21.4 million.

"I'm quite comfortable with that" - Ruben Amorim on whether he's feeling the heat

Manchester United's disappointing spell has them sitting 14th in the league and they finished in the bottom half of the Premier League for Christmas. He spoke after the defeat to Wolves about the situation (via BBC Sport's Simon Stone):

"The manager of Manchester United can never, no matter what, be comfortable. I know if we don't win, regardless if they pay the buyout [for me] or not, every manager is in danger. I like that because that is the job. You can argue that I have been here one month and I’ve had four training [sessions], but we are not winning. That is the reality and I'm quite comfortable with that.”

Amorim has overseen four wins and five defeats in 10 games since succeeding Erik ten Hag in November. He's trying to implement a new 3-4-3 formation but it's proven difficult because of the players at the Portuguese's disposal.

The games come thick and fast for Amorim and the Reds and they next face Newcastle United on Monday (December 30). Bruno Fernandes will be suspended after he was sent off for two bookable offenses against Wolves while Manuel Ugarte will also serve a ban after he received his fifth booking of the season at Molineux.

Amorim initially wanted to stay at Sporting until the summer and take over at Old Trafford at the end of the season. He was asked for his stance on this after United fastracked his arrival:

“There’s no point talking about that or thinking about that.  I’m here and have to focus on the job.”

There have been glimpses of the philosophy Amorim is trying to put in place but this has come amid glaring errors and clumsy decisions from players. January might be an opportune time for the club to make major transfer decisions including sales with Marcus Rashford looking increasingly likely to leave his boyhood club.
