Manchester United fans are incredibly excited about the Old Trafford redevelopment plan. In many ways, the redevelopment has been anticipated for a long time and for good reason.
For a club the size of Manchester United (arguably the biggest club in the world, if not second to Real Madrid), Old Trafford simply isn't an adequate stadium.
While the stadium holds many great memories and is rightly dubbed the theatre of dreams, it is crying out to be renovated. Those who have visited Old Trafford will know that is crumbling apart week by week.
Thankfully, Manchester United are in the long process of redeveloping Old Trafford Stadium. Fans have now been greeted to an exciting development update from Manchester United themselves.
Manchester United deliver exciting Old Trafford development update
In an exciting update published by the official club website this morning, Manchester United confirmed they would partner with Trafford Council and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) to maximise regeneration opportunities in and around the Trafford Wharfside area.
Manchester United not only wish to build a "world-class stadium" but they also want to maximise opportunities for the greater region of Old Trafford. This would add to matchday experiences and set Manchester United, hopefully, as the club with the best stadium in England.
The North of England is in desperate need of a world-class stadium. Ironically, the North of England is home to the best clubs in the country (Man City, Man United, Liverpool, Newcastle, etc.) but no Northern club has an outstanding stadium.
Whereas the South of England is home to the best stadiums in England. For example, London Stadium, Wembley Stadium, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Emirates Stadium.
Manchester United are currently undergoing a transitional period. They are moving forward as a club and in all honesty, it's been a long-time coming. Needless to say, the regeneration of Old Trafford will be a key defining moment in the rewriting of Manchester United.
