With the new Premier League season rapidly approaching, all eyes will be on Manchester United since they play the first match of the competition on Friday evening. They host Fulham at Old Trafford, with Erik ten Hag hoping to put out his best starting lineup. That said, there is poignant Man United injury news which may hinder his ability to do that.

Last season, Man United finished 8th in the Premier League table. Needless to say, this is far below their expectations and standards. However, they did win the FA Cup, so there are still some nice foundations at the club for Erik ten Hag to build on.

Without further ado, let's analyse the Man United injury news and decipher which players will miss the opening Premier League match.

Man United injury news: Which players will miss Premier League return?

Currently, there are five players on the Man United treatment table.

1. Leny Yoro

The most unfortunate absentee from the upcoming Man United vs Fulham fixture is the new signing Leny Yoro. The teenager who arrives from Ligue 1 has a lot of hype surrounding him. Considering he was Real Madrid-linked, he is bound to be a star in the future.

However, an unfortunate injury in pre-season, which even saw him on crutches, means Leny Yoro will be missing from action at the start of the Premier League. Yoro has undergone surgery and as per the official club website, he will be out of action for around three months. A big injury blow.

2. Luke Shaw

This one comes as no surprise, since he is absent more often than he's fit, but Luke Shaw is also set to miss the opening Premier League match against Fulham. At the start of pre-season, Shaw picked up a calf injury which will see him out of action for Manchester United, at least for the start of the season.

Shaw is a valuable player to Erik ten Hag, so fans would've been excited to see him return to injury for the Euros with England. However, the Englishman can't stay away fro the treatment table. The official club website predict Shaw to be back after the first international break.

3. Rasmus Hojlund

Rasmus Hojlund is expected to be ruled out until November, which is an unfortunate blow to Manchester United. The striker was injured whilst on pre-season and he will now miss the first few months of action.

Thankfully for Erik ten Hag, Joshua Zirkzee was signed, so the blow to Hojlund does not feel as devastating as it perhaps could have been. Zirkzee is not believed to be fully match fit, but he will be thrown into the deep end against Fulham, no doubt.

4. Tyrell Malacia

Tyrell Malacia was missing for most of last season, so Man United fans are aware of the extent of his long-term injury. While he has progressed in his rehabilitation, Malacia is not expected back until until two months into the season.

Erik ten Hag said: "[Malacia] is now in a good place, but he is not here because I only took players who could play games or be available for team training. He is not that far, but he is now in a progress situation. At a relatively short notice, he can again return into team training and then into team performance in games. I think it would be possible in two months."

5. Victor Lindelof

Victor Lindelof missed the end of last season through an unfortunate hamstring injury. Unfortunately, the defensive injury woes are set to continue for Erik ten Hag, as Lindelof is expected to be unavailable to face Fulham on Friday evening.

Lindelof has returned to full training, which is a welcomed boost for Man United fans. However, he is not expected to be up to full match fitness, so he isn't anticipated to be involved in the squad which hosts Fulham.
