Man United have a poor injury record but fans must not fall into the trap of using this as an excuse. As one of the richest clubs in the world, Man United fans are in no position to feel hard-done-by.

Besides, Man United fans must look on the upside. Yes, they may have a poor injury record, particularly at the start of this season, but one of their best players is a consistent mainstay in the Man United lineup.

Some people may not be aware of this but it's truly impressive that Bruno Fernandes has only missed six matches through injury, for both club and country throughout his entire career. The Portugal international is involved in a lot of the play for Man United but still, he is available week-in, week-out.

So, this could demonstrate that the injury problems at Man United are on a personal level, not a club level. After all, every other club understands that some players are more injury-prone than others.

Am I saying that if every player was under the same physiotherapy protocols as Bruno Fernandes, then Man United would miraculously be injury free? No, injuries do not work like that.

It could simply be a case of Man United doing their due diligence in the future. It is a shame to judge a player on their injury record, but Man United are now at the stage where they must start doing this.

After all, it is no good having some of the best players in the world if they cannot start week-in, week-out.

Man United have ambitions to qualify for the Champions League again. From this point onwards, it entails playing two more guaranteed fixtures, given the new group stage format. So, Man United must only sign players who can handle a busy and high-stakes schedule.

Bruno Fernandes is testament to that. The best ability, is availability.
