Who is the best Brazilian to play for Manchester United?
3. Fred
In third place, Fred has to make the call. With 213 appearances across all competitions, no Brazilian player made more appearances for Man United than Fred. That has to count for something.
Fred signed from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 and ended up making a name for himself at Man United. Of course, he went through periods of inconsistency but anyone who makes over 100 appearances for a club is bound to have some shaky periods, let alone 200+ appearances like Fred managed.
Fred unfortunately played for Manchester United during a difficult time period. Due to this, he only won the EFL Cup with United. However, in terms of individual quality and desire to play for the badge, nobody can question Fred.
2. Anderson
Anderson arrived at Manchester United as a youngster and he was expected to become one of the best players in the world. It's fair to say that he didn't quite live up to his potential but under Sir Alex Ferguson, he emerged as a great player for Man United.
His incredible box-to-box presence and desire to feed the ball into pockets of space made him a valued member of the Man United team. There's a reason why he was a mainstay in a talent-packed team. Relatively to his potential, he didn't play well. However, the hype he received as a youngster to one side, Anderson was a solid player for United.
1. Rafael
Defenders often have a hard time receiving praise from fanbases and pundits but Rafael is different. In fact, it's almost impossible to ignore the class which Rafael provided when he was on the pitch.
Being a full-back, Rafael was naturally tasked with gut-busting runs and tracking back during high-pressured situations. However, the Brazilian never complained and if anything, he was more than happy to leave every last bit of energy on the field. A club legend, he won three Premier League titles and spent his best years at Man United.
