Manchester United are on the verge of signing Chido Obi-Martin, after his Arsenal deal expired last month. The teenager is in line to sign his first professional contract but it won't be with his boyhood club Arsenal and instead, it will be their arch-rivals and long-term Premier League competitors Man United.

It is the second deal of the summer transfer window whereby Man United have been tenacious. It's a sign of some exciting things to come, as Ruud van Nistelrooy is believed to be a key factor of this deal, as per Fabrizio Romano it was the new assistant manager at Old Trafford who presented a long-term project to Obi-Martin and one he simply couldn't refuse.

But who is Chido Obi-Martin?

The question on a lot of Man United's supports minds will be "but who is Chido Obi-Martin?"

Well, he will soon introduce himself to the Old Trafford faithful, as the young striker is believed to be the next best thing. He is just 16 years old but he became a mainstay in the Arsenal under-18 setup last season.

He has a keen knack for scoring goals and this leads to him finding and exploiting pockets of space excellently. Needless to say, he has an excellent range of shooting but he's also very comfortable with the ball at his feet, making him an exciting signing for Man United.

Last season, Chido Obi-Martin scored an incredible 32 goals in just 18 games during the U18 Premier League setup. He even scored an impressive flurry of seven goals in one game against Norwich City, showing that he has the goal-scoring instinct which has made the likes of Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski so popular in recent seasons.

The ceiling is incredibly high for Chido Obi-Martin and hopefully, Ruud van Nistelrooy puts into practice everything he's promised the youngster. The reward could certainly pay off.

It's not the first time that Man United have signed a goal-scorer from Arsenal. I'm sure Man United fans need no reminding of the flying Dutchman.
