Manchester United and England defender Luke Shaw is set to be out for a few weeks again after suffering from another injury in training. The left-back just returned from a lengthy period out injured and was “devastated” after another setback in his long list of injury concerns.

Red Devils fans are now losing patience with Shaw’s persistent injury concerns as the 29-year-old is set for another spell out. The England International made his first appearance of the season, coming off from the bench in Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge against Ipswich Town in a 1-1 draw. He missed a chunk of the first half of the season, including his former boss Erik ten Hag getting the sack, as well as the short interim reign of Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

Shaw also made substitute appearances off the bench in the Europa League against Bode/Glimt last week and then in a 4-0 win against Everton in the Premier League. The plan from his new Portuguese coach was clear: to give minutes and ease the left back slowly back into match fitness without risking anything regarding his fitness.

However, Shaw was a victim of another injury concern before a 2-0 defeat against Arsenal, where his presence was much needed. Manchester United were also without Lisandro Martinez (suspended) and were vulnerable on the left flank with Tyrell Malacia struggling to deal with the in-form Bukayo Saka.

Shaw updated fans on his situation with an Instagram post and said he was devastated with how things are with his fitness and highlighted his frustration:

“Hi guys, it's hurting a lot having to write this as I really thought I had got through my recent struggles and was on a positive path going forward, but unfortunately, I've had a small setback. I've been through a lot and had a lot of ups and downs, but this has definitely been my toughest period. I'm absolutely devastated and it's extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this moment in time.

I understand there is gonna be people frustrated, angry, disappointed and I understand all that. There is no one feeling that more than me at this moment in time. But what I can promise is I will do everything I can to come back better soon to help this club achieve its ambitions this season. Thank you to everyone for the support. It really doesn't go unnoticed, and I really appreciate it.”

Manchester United fans might feel this is a loop in which they go through every season and are now pondering whether its time to move on from Shaw. Despite his talent, the former Southampton full-back has missed a remarkable 1,511 days out injured for Manchester United since his arrival 11 years ago, missing 316 games. INEOS might feel that it might be the right time to part ways and look for a long-term replacement at left wing-back.
