Manchester United agreed to pay £35.8 million for Joshua Zirkzee's services, with high expectations for what the Dutchman would bring to the Theater of Dreams.
Months into his United career, the former Bologna player has yet to truly win over the Old Trafford faithfuls. He may have scored 26 minutes into his Premier League debut against Fulham, but he has struggled to impress since then.
Upon his arrival, the expectation was that he would exert pressure on Rasmus Hojlund, making it challenging for the United technical bench to determine who should spearhead the attack. However, Zirkzee has struggled with the pace of the Premier League, finding it difficult to express himself, and his unrushed nature has not helped his cause.
Some have already given up on the 23-year-old, who has only one goal in 14 United outings, but others remain confident that he will pick up his pace and eventually become a hit for the Manchester Reds. As speculation grows over whether Zirkzee will find his mojo at Old Trafford, an intriguing revelation about his future has emerged.
Zirkzee-Vlahovic Swap Deal
Massimo Orlando, an Italian football expert, via Tuttomercatoweb predicts that during the winter transfer window, United and Juventus could discuss a swap deal involving Zirkzee and Dusan Vlahovic. Orlando believes Thiago Motta, who previously worked with the United striker at Bologna, will attempt to bring him on board in the winter.
According to him, the Juventus coach is not a fan of Vlahovic and may want to offer him to the Red Devils in exchange for his favorite #9, Zirkzee.
"He is not at all happy with Vlahovic, who has also scored goals; I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a change in that position in January, with the Serbian to United and Zirkzee to Juve"Massimo Orlando
Other than AC Milan, Juventus was undoubtedly one of the teams United outperformed in the race. It would make sense to tempt United with that offer. We'll have to wait and see if the Red Devils agree to this preposition.
But if Vlahovic is open to heading to Manchester, United should consent to the move; the Serbian is one of Europe's best goal scorers, with 16 goals and 4 assists in 33 league games last season and 6 goals in 11 league games this season. Vlahovic may provide the right boost for United's struggling attack, don't you think?
