With Manchester United languishing in 14th place in the Premier League table and unable to show any consistent performance, the criticism directed at Bruno Fernandes has been intense.

Former Manchester United midfielder turned pundit Roy Keane has claimed that "talent is not enough" and labeled Bruno as "not a fighter" a week ago. Keane emphasized the need to have a starting point. He further added that talent is not enough.

Fernandes, who has a contract with Manchester United until 2027, is already being linked with a move away from Old Trafford. Many fear that without him the club would be in an even worse situation.

In response to Keane’s criticism, Man United head coach Rúben Amorim stated that the Portuguese playmaker is an important part of the team. Amorim further added that Bruno is playing well in a difficult context, and always wants to take responsibility.

The Portuguese star has made 26 appearances for the club this season, scoring 6 goals and providing 7 assists. His overall attacking contribution is also impressive, with the chances he creates ranking in the 95th percentile and shots taken in the 96th percentile, according to OPTA.

“He’s being singled out because of his role as the captain—a lot of people seem to have a problem with that. As a player, I think he has been excellent for Manchester United. He would be a really difficult player to lose if he were to leave in the transfer window.” Gary Pallister to GOAL

Manchester United have an important couple of games ahead, as they face Arsenal at Old Trafford on Super Sunday before hosting Real Sociedad in the return leg of the Europa League.

The Red Devils will then take on struggling Leicester City before the international break. However, they will face a series of tough challenges in April, with away fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United, as well as a home clash against Manchester City. These matches could prove pivotal in determining the course of their season.
