Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Patrick Dorgu, who is set to join the club from Serie A side Leece in a £25.2m plus £4.2m) in add-ons deal, per The Athletic. This was a crucial piece of business for the Reds as Dorgu will slot in at left wing-back, a position that has been a problem area for over a year.
Ruben Amorim has been crying out for reinforcements amid a difficult transitional period at Old Trafford. His side are showing inconsistency and there are question marks over several players' futures, especially Marcus Rashford's.
A new forward signing looks likely to accompany Dorgu to United if the club are to make another signing before the winter transfer window closes on February 3. That signing should be none other than Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.
Manchester United Must Swoop For Mbeumo

Bryan Mbeumo has been firing on all cylinders for Brentford this season and has comfortably been one of their best players alongside Yoane Wissa. His strength, direct approach and clinical finishing abilities have wreaked havoc on the right side of the Bees' attack.
Thomas Frank was in no doubts over Mbeumo's talent when speaking after the Cameroonian bagged a brace in a 4-3 comeback win over Ipswich Town (October 26). He said (via Yahoo! Sports):
“I hope they do that (Mbeumo should be considered one of league's best). How many goals is it now, eight in nine games? That’s hugely impressive from a winger in a team in the middle of the Premier League, that’s not normal.”
Mbeumo has since registered 14 goals in 23 Premier League games and been a right handful for defences. He's also got the personality that Amorim would like from his attacker, not afraid to take people on while also playing with a tireless work ethic in the press.
Have Manchester United Been Linked with Mbeumo?
The market inflates when it comes to attackers thriving in the Premier League but Mbeumo's potential price-tag makes for interesting reading. GIVEMESPORT reports that Brentford value the Cameroon international at £60m which isn't too steep given he's one of the league's top scorers this season.
The Daily Star Sport (via Mirror) reported in early January that United were weighing up a potential £40m bid, although that was likely to come in the summer. But should Rashford be sold or loaned, that could open up an opportunity from a financial perspective.
Mbeumo for around £40-60m is a no brainer especially before Monday's deadline because he has proven Premier League experience. He also can operate in a front-three while boasts versatility that goes hand in hand with Amorim's system.
