There is growing talk of Victor Osimhen arriving at Manchester United to help rectify the club's glaring lack of goalscoring potency this season. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have managed five league goals between them.
Nigerian newspaper The Papers claim Osimhen is expected in the Premier League and to 'wear the red colours'. Take that as you will, but given that he's been linked with the Red Devils, a move to Old Trafford seems to be the most likely destination.

Manchester United Must Pull Off Stunning Double Striking Swoop

Osimhen, 26, is a world-class forward who undoubtedly has the ability to thrive in Ruben Amorim's system. He's been on loan at Galatasaray this season after falling out with Napoli and he's been in red-hot form in Turkiye.
The Nigerian frontman has bagged 12 goals and five assists in 15 games across competitions. Should United swoop for the experienced forward it could spell the end of Zirkzee's nightmare spell at Old Trafford.
However, United are also linked with Amorim's former Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres. The i Paper reports that the Red Devils' head coach wants the Swede, and the 26-year-old equally desires a reunion.
Gyokeres has been a revelation at Sporting, bagging 27 goals in as many games this season. He has an ÂŁ80 million release clause but the club could negotiate a lower fee next summer.
Thus, if United sign Osimhen in January, potentially in a swap deal involving the under-fire Marcus Rashford, they shouldn't stop their overhaul up top. A deadly duo of the Nigerian and the Swede would go a long way to taking the Reds back among Europe's elite.

What would the future hold for Rasmus Hojlund?

Hojlund arrived at Manchester United from Atalanta in August 2023 for ÂŁ72 million. He's the club's youngest U21 signing in history, and many expected the Danish frontman to flourish given the amount of money spent.
However, the 21-year-old has struggled to impress, not prolific enough and rarely posing a threat up top. Some were hoping he'd be 'the new Gyokeres' for Amorim but that hasn't been the case.
Hojlund could learn a lot from experienced strikers of Osimhen's ilk. It remains to be seen whether he'd be open to a bit-part role but he's done nothing to prove he's worthy of continuing as the club's starting number nine.
