Amad was poised to be Manchester United's star as new manager Ruben Amorim stepped onto the scene. In his first match under Amorim, Amad secured an assist against Ipswich Town. From there, Amad continued to be brilliant and proved to be a big threat.
In February, Amad incurred a serious ankle injury and was originally set to miss the rest of the season. Later, Amorim said he was hopeful that the winger would feature towards the end of the season. The most recent update comes from Fabrizio Romano, who confirmed that Amad is rehabbing well and is even ahead of the current schedule.
Amad's Revival Under Amorim
Amad often found himself on the bench under Erik ten Hag, and before that, he had multiple successful loan spells at various clubs. When Amorim came into the team, Amad was at the forefront of his mind.
Amad came to be a hero for the struggling Red Devils, coming up with important goals and assists. Before the injury, Amad had racked up 9 goals and 7 assists in all competitions. He was on track to potentially becoming Manchester United's player of the season.
One of Amad's biggest games in the Premier League so far was the Manchester Derby at the Etihad. The Red Devils were down by a goal and an inspiring Amad performance saw two late goals defeat their greatest rivals. The first goal, which was a Bruno Fernandes penalty, was set up by Amad as he rushed into the penalty box and drew a foul. The game-winning goal was set up with a long ball from Lisandro Martinez to Amad, who coolly went around Ederson and tucked the ball safely away in the back of the net.
Another incredible performance for the young player came against Liverpool, where he found himself scoring the game tying goal at Anfield. Amad has shown that he can be a key player for Manchester United, especially in big games.
What Amad's Return Means
United will certainly be cautious with Amad's return to full training and getting back on the field. However, if all goes well, Amad might be back in action just in time for the Europa League semifinals and subsequent final, should United find themselves in these games.
Amad will hopefully stay healthy in the offseason and continue to improve in weaker areas. He'll want to cement his starting place, amid new players, specifically wingers, coming in to the side in the summer.
