Following the defeat to West Ham United, Man United has finally sacked Erik ten Hag. Now, Ruud van Nistelrooy will step up as the interim manager.

Man United has had an awful start to the 2024/25 season, in all competitions. Erik ten Hag is often blamed for the demise of Man United but the truth is that the downfall occurred long before he was announced as manager.

It is fair to say that the majority of Man United fans were leaning towards a "Erik ten Hag out" stance. Or, at least, this could be said for the online side of the fanbase. At Old Trafford, there was still support for the Dutch manager.

Well, the Erik ten Hag out brigade has finally got their wish.

Man United finally sack Erik ten Hag, replaced by Ruud van Nistelrooy

Man United has sacked Erik ten Hag. According to BBC Sport, Erik ten Hag was informed of the decision by the club to sack him on Monday morning. The sacking occurred less than 24 hours after Man United lost against West Ham in London.

Now, assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy will step up to manage the first team on an interim basis. The consensus is that Man United can only improve without Erik ten Hag, so the club legend van Nistelrooy will be given support in his new interim role.

Ruud van Nistelrooy was only appointed as the assistant manager in the summer. Now, he has a big role on his hands, to steer Man United back on the right track before a replacement is appointed.

Who knows? Perhaps Ruud van Nistelrooy does such a good job at Man United that he is offered a permanent contract for the manager role. Stranger things have happened within football, particularly at Man United.

This is a huge event which could signify a big paradigm shift at Man United.
