Manchester United's 1-1 draw against Ipswich was frustrating but the point was largely because of Andre Onana's heroics. The Red Devils may feel relieved with a point coming up against Kieran McKenna's very resilient side managed. Fans argue that Onana salvaged a point for his side as he made some stunning saves today, denying Liam Delap and Conor Chaplin with match-saving stops at either end of the half.

The 28-year-old Cameroon international has been at the heart of criticism since the day he signed for Manchester United last season. He has answered all his critics and has arguably been one of the Reds' best players this season. The United goalkeeper possibly made the save of the season today, denying Delap with a solid right hand, which almost looked like a certain goal. Apart from the two saves, he had a passing accuracy of 88% and was at the heart of Amorim's side playing out from the back.

Fans were impressed with Onana's showing including one fan who wrote on X:

"Onana has been unreal this season."

Another fan thinks Onana's heroics have gone without their deserved flowers:

"Onana is so underrated, bro has been insane this season.

Marcus Rashford gave Manchester United an early lead inside 2 minutes after a brilliant mazy run by Amad Diallo who was probably Manchester United’s best player on the pitch alongside Onana. The winger dribbled past two challenges and slotted a perfect cross to Rashford, who couldn’t miss, and gave Amorim the start he dreamt of.

Despite taking an early lead, United were pegged back most of the first 45 minutes by a brilliant Ipswich side who pressed very high up the pitch and created many chances after conceding the goal. They had an xG of 1.75, compared to United’s 0.90. Omari Hutchinson’s deflected shot saw both teams eventually share a point after a lackluster second half.

Manchester United Fans Feel They Owe Onana An Apology

Manchester United fans have been delighted how Andre Onana has turned things around this season. After a stunning “save of the season” contender stop denying Delap from point blank range, he’s become a fan favorite now.

New Era At Manchester United

Plenty of things to ponder for Ruben Amorim in his first game in charge. In a new country, new environment, and with more expectations, the young coach has huge pressure on his shoulders, but the club believes he’s the perfect replacement they could find for Erik ten Hag. Andre Onana can be pivotal in attaining success with the young Portuguese manager and maybe build a legacy of his own in the Old Trafford ranks.
