Erik ten Hag is walking on thin ice. However, he might have saved his Man United job, at least for now, after Man United beat Brentford in the Premier League.

Man United have had an awful start to the Premier League season. However, if they finish in a respectable position, fans will not look back at the start of this campaign with any bitter feelings.

In their first game back after the October international break, Man United showed that they are capable of winning games. The win meant a lot more since it came from a losing position at first.

For the first time this season, Man United showed heart to pick up all three points. The players looked like they had a reason to fight.

Journalist of The Athletic Laurie Whitwell thinks that had Man United not picked up the win at the weekend, Erik ten Hag would have been under immense scrutiny.

In his own words, Whitwell said: "Big result for Erik ten Hag, who would have been under immense scrutiny had Brentford won. But his team showed resilience + quality."

Laurie Whitwell then went onto praise Marcus Rashford, Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez as three standout players.

It is true that the pressure is lifted off Erik ten Hag now. However, only slightly. If Man United follow up this win with a poor result, then the question marks would be arguably more valid than last week.

Man United players have every reason to celebrate. They played well and they fought hard to get all three points. However, those celebrations will be meaningless if a poor result follows this one.

Next up, Man United face West Ham in the Premier League. Before then, they come up against Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce said. So, three wins on the bounce would be pretty good going.
